Belgrade/Online, June 8 – 11, 2021– In June 2021, Smart Kolektiv organized a regional conference “Transition to Green Economy“. The conference was held online from June 8th to 11th with the participation of more than 40 speakers from Serbia and the Western Balkans.
Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia Sam Fabrizi, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujović, Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimović, and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Serbia Francine Pickup spoke at the opening of the conference.
Through 11 sessions, the conference addressed topics such as the preconditions for the development of the green economy in the region, the economic and investment plan and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, the state of public policies in the field of green economy, the role of the media, business sector and civil society in transition to a green economy and many others.
The conference was organized by the Smart Kolektiv within the project GEAR – Green Economy for Regional Development funded by the European Union under the Civil Society and Media Support Program for 2016-2017. The project is implemented by a consortium of organizations which, in addition to Smart Kolektiv from Serbia, include FORS Montenegro from Montenegro, CRP from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ekosvest from Northern Macedonia, EDEN from Albania, as well as the association SLAP from Croatia.
