A grant within the Green Kick project was officially awarded today to the local self-government of Novi Pazar after the city’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) was recognized as the most successful in Serbia.

As recognition for the achieved results and additional support for the implementation of planned measures, Novi Pazar received a dedicated grant in the amount of EUR 6,000. As part of the grant support, the local self-government was provided with a solar smart bench, a modern and sustainable solution that contributes to improving energy efficiency and promoting the use of renewable energy sources in public spaces.

The official handover ceremony was held today, May 22, in Novi Pazar, in the presence of representatives of the local self-government and project partners.

The installation of this type of urban equipment is important for the citizens of Novi Pazar as it contributes to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. In addition to charging mobile devices, citizens will also have access to internet connectivity in a public space.

The Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) is a strategic document that enables systematic planning of measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, and strengthening the resilience of local communities to climate change.

Through the Green Kick project, and in cooperation with the local self-governments of Novi Pazar, Smederevska Palanka, Kragujevac, Vrnjačka Banja, Petrovac na Mlavi, and Šid, Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) were developed, further strengthening the capacities of local governments to plan and implement climate and energy policies.

The Green Kick project is implemented by the Center for Development and Support from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with Smart Kolektiv from Serbia and the Foundation for the Development of the North of Montenegro – FORS Montenegro, and is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
