Employers are invited to apply by November 7 for the “Fit Internship: Internship Program for Young People with Disabilities,” which aims to improve employability and create new opportunities for professional development for young people with disabilities. The Youth with Disabilities Forum has so far implemented six cycles of the internship program, involving 80 young people with disabilities and 50 employers.

The expected outcomes of the program relate to enhancing employment opportunities for young people with disabilities by acquiring new knowledge and skills through internships. At the same time, employers will have access to a pilot internship model for young people with disabilities, utilizing inclusive procedures without any burden on their budget.

The program phases include:

TRAINING FOR EMPLOYERS
(Topics: the concept of disability, types of disabilities, communication, terminology, workplace adjustments and environment, inclusive procedures in the hiring process).
(Date: November 14, 2024)

DEFINING POSITIONS FOR INTERNSHIPS BY EMPLOYERS
(By November 28, 2024)

SELECTION OF INTERNS
(Activities will be preceded by a public call for interns, which will be conducted by the YDF)
(During January 2025)

IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNSHIPS FOR A DURATION OF 2 MONTHS
(Internship period: February-March 2025; adjustments may be possible depending on the employer’s capabilities)

When applying, employers will preliminarily indicate one or more internship positions, while the final selection of positions will be made after the training. The project team will publish a call for interns and provide support to employers in the candidate selection process after defining and choosing the positions. The implementation of the internship is without mandatory financial costs for employers, while the YDF will cover transportation and meal costs for interns. Additionally, the YDF provides professional support to employers throughout the duration of the internship program.

The application deadline is Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Interested employers can apply via the form available OVDE.
