The social dialogue on the topic “The Importance and Advantages of Social Entrepreneurship,” held on November 12 in Kragujevac, brought together representatives from state institutions, non-governmental organizations, and social enterprises. Participants exchanged views and positive experiences regarding the challenges and opportunities in this field.

The dialogue, organized by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, featured participation from Neven Marinović, director of Smart Kolektiv, an organization with a long-standing commitment to supporting social enterprises. Marinović noted that this is an opportune moment for discussions on this topic, considering the European Action Plan for Social Economy and the robust legislative framework in place. He emphasized that dialogues of this kind promote the importance of social enterprises, which contribute to both economic growth and social inclusion. Moreover, they provide an opportunity to identify obstacles and solutions to ensure that social enterprises in Serbia become a more significant sector of the economy.

“Social entrepreneurship in Serbia is a relatively new concept of socially responsible business, aiming to strengthen social integration and enhance the labour market inclusion of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, individuals with developmental challenges, and members of ethnic communities”. This was highlighted by Tomislav Žigmanov, Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, who opened the dialogue.

Minister without portfolio responsible for reconciliation, regional cooperation, and social stability, Usame Zukorlić, also addressed the gathering. He underlined the pivotal role of social entrepreneurship in fostering reconciliation and integration: “Social entrepreneurship offers a unique opportunity to put business at the service of society, initiate changes needed in our communities, and contribute to the creation of a fairer and more humane society,” said Zukorlić.

Participants stressed the importance of continuing such dialogues to support social stability and economic development in Serbia.

Key contributors to the dialogue included Dr. Gordana Damnjanović, Assistant to the Mayor of Kragujevac; Nikola Tarbuk, Secretary General of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities; Neven Marinović, Director of Smart Kolektiv; representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia; and members of associations and institutions providing social protection services.
