Neven Marinović, Director of Smart Kolektiv and President of the Euclid Network, moderated a panel session on January 23 in Davos as part of the World Economic Forum, where the results of the European Social Enterprise Monitor were presented. This session was part of a multi-day program organized by Catalyst Now within the Social Innovation House.

The European Social Enterprise Monitor (ESEM) is developed in collaboration with 30 European countries, national social enterprise networks, and universities, and it provides critical insights into the key challenges and opportunities for social enterprises, the ways in which public and private sectors can support social entrepreneurship, and data-driven insights that help shape inclusive and sustainable economies. Social enterprises are vital changemakers, and this report highlights their remarkable work while addressing the support they need to thrive.

The ESEM is a biennial survey-based study on social enterprises (SEs) across Europe. This third edition, taking place over 2023-2024, builds on the editions of 2020-21 and 2021-22. The ESEM provides information to decision makers so that they can better accommodate and support SEs in their policy, funding and legal frameworks.

The ESEM is led at the European level by Euclid Network (EN), with country teams leading the work at the national level. The European Report provides an overview of the data at the European level. National data and analysis are available in the Country Reports (‘xSEM’), produced by country partners. This data gathered by the ESEM includes observations related to the 1807 SEs across 30 European countries sampled in 2023-2024.

Smart Kolektiv is the national partner of the Euclid Network, which facilitated the implementation of the research in Serbia. In this way, Serbia’s social entrepreneurship sector is being internationalized and connected with practices across Europe, while simultaneously building a united front of stakeholders advocating for better laws, policies, and programs for social entrepreneurship at the national, European, and global levels.
