As part of the “Green Kick” project, which focuses on strengthening the role of civil society in the decarbonization process and the fight against climate change, a training session was held in Neum from 17th to 20th September on the preparation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP) for local government units.

The training was attended by project team members from three partner organizations: the Centre for Development and Support from Tuzla, FORS Montenegro from Nikšić, and Smart Kolektiv from Belgrade. Through introductory lectures and analysis, participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with strategies, goals, key policies, and initiatives within the EU Green Deal and the Sofia Declaration. Special emphasis was placed on sustainability, innovation, and regional effects, with examples of good practices from the European Union presented.

One of the key aspects of the training was the analysis of barriers and the development of strategies to overcome challenges in the preparation of SECAP plans, which are crucial for improving local sustainable development strategies and climate actions.

The training in Neum provided valuable guidelines that will contribute to better implementation of sustainable energy policies in line with European standards.

The “Green Kick” project is implemented by Smart Kolektiv in partnership with the Center for Development and Support from Tuzla and FORS Montenegro from Nikšić.  The project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). EUKI is an instrument for financing projects of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
