As part of the Green Kick project, dedicated to strengthening the role of civil society in the process of decarbonisation and combating climate change, the second round of meetings with representatives of municipal and city working groups was held from 8 to 18 November. The focus of these meetings was to define the next steps in the development of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP).

This phase represents a crucial and the most demanding part of the process, requiring participants to collect and analyse detailed data on energy and water consumption for all public facilities, public utility companies, and public lighting. It also involves conducting surveys on CO2 emissions for households and other sectors, as well as defining a baseline year from which CO2 emission reductions will be measured. This baseline will serve as a foundation for tracking achieved results.

The Green Kick project aims to support local governments in Serbia in transitioning to more sustainable energy management systems and adapting to climate change. Five local government units from Serbia, selected through a public call, are participating in the process: Vrnjačka Banja, Kragujevac, Novi Pazar, Petrovac na Mlavi, and Smederevska Palanka.

The project is implemented by Smart Kolektiv in partnership with the Center for Development and Support from Tuzla and FORS Montenegro from Nikšić.  The project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). EUKI is an instrument for financing projects of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
