Smart Kolektiv has launched the “Buy Social” campaign on its social media channels to raise awareness about the importance of social procurement and other forms of collaboration between companies and social enterprises, as well as other impact-driven partners. Social procurement – the integration of social enterprises in supply chains – is one of the most effective ways for companies to increase their positive social impact. Although often viewed as a technical aspect of business operations, the supply chain has a tremendous impact on society and the environment, accounting for up to two-thirds of a company’s total potential positive or negative impact. Therefore, choosing suppliers and partners is much more than an operational decision – it is an opportunity to create concrete and measurable change within the community.

By collaborating with social enterprises, companies not only secure high-quality products and services but also directly contribute to the employment of vulnerable groups, the development of local economies, and environmental protection. In this way, every procurement decision can become an investment in social value. At the same time, consumers and employees increasingly expect brands to operate transparently, sustainably, and responsibly, making this approach an important reputational advantage. Engaging social enterprises also helps companies meet ESG criteria and align their operations with current regulations and standards.

On the other hand, social enterprises in Serbia often operate under challenging conditions and largely rely on the market, so stable partnerships with companies can provide more secure income, long-term sustainability, and opportunities for further growth and job creation. Such partnerships enable social enterprises to continue addressing specific social challenges and strengthening local communities, while offering companies reliable partners aligned with their values. When these two sectors join forces, they create a model of cooperation in which both the economy and society benefit.

Social procurement and collaboration between companies and impact-driven enterprises are key-topics within the project “Resilient Communities: Nurturing Social Enterprises for Local Development” implemented by Smart Kolektiv in partnership with Evrokontakt Kruševac and the Kolping Society of Serbia, with the financial support of the European Union. Buy Social Europe B2B is a transnational initiative that empowers social and mainstream enterprises to connect and forge sustainable trade partnerships. The initiative unites 23 partners from 17 countries, including Smart Kolektiv.
