The Green Kick project grant for the most successful Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) was awarded to the local government of Novi Pazar. Novi Pazar is one of six local governments selected to develop this complex strategic document within the project framework, focused on decarbonization and climate change adaptation. During the previous period, representatives of local governments participated in intensive trainings and working meetings aimed at developing detailed measures and activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The evaluation process of the plans was conducted by an Independent Expert Commission, which included a representative of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) from Germany. Based on a thorough evaluation, the commission decided that the SECAP of the local government of Novi Pazar was the most successful in the Republic of Serbia.

As recognition of this achievement and to provide additional support for implementation, the winning SECAP will be supported with a dedicated grant in the amount of 6,000.00 euros. This grant will enable the local government to procure necessary equipment and implement concrete activities and measures in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, further advancing local climate action and the energy transition.

Smart Kolektiv extends its gratitude to all local governments that participated in the project – Smederevska Palanka, Vrnjacka Banja, Kragujevac, Petrovac na Mlavi, and Sid – for their dedication, engagement, and successful cooperation throughout all phases of the project. Their contribution, as well as joint work and commitment, significantly contributed to the successful, high-quality development of the SECAPs in line with the defined objectives.

The Green Kick project supports local governments in Serbia in the process of decarbonization and building sustainable energy systems. The project is implemented by the Center for Development and Support from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with Smart Kolektiv from Serbia and the Foundation for the Development of the North of Montenegro – FORS Montenegro, and is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
